At the AYC May is that special time of year to recognize all the exceptional young people that help make Abbotsford the vibrant city it is! The first week of May is home to a province wide celebration of youth known as Youth Week! We spend months planning for it and are super jazzed to see all that planning come to full circle! The swag has been orders, the venues are booked… all that is left is to PARTY!
This year ARC and MRC joined us in offering $2 skates/swims to youth as a kick off event.
Our SAFETYBRATION was next featuring the always hilarious yet educational ICBC impaired vision goggles and of course loads of swag from our friends at Worksafe BC.
The very well attended UROC Awards and ice cream social were a character driven good time!
Sports dominated the next few days with 3 on 3 basketball and our heated rivalry with the APD!
We took Acts of Kindness to Highstreet Mall where over 100 people spun the wheel for exciting prizes such as keychains, tshirts, free summer program registrations and lots of goodies made by the youth themselves! The flowers donated by Clearview Garden Shop brought one patron to tears and clearly illustrated to power of kindness!
We ended the week with dodgeball mania where one lucky kid took home the grand prize of a Monster wireless speaker! Prize goals for sure!
